Local Fundraising Ideas Often, members desire to host local fundraising opportunities in order to build awareness of pediatric mastocytosis and to raise funds for Mastokids. As an organization, we are grateful for such endeavors and rely on them for continued support of our efforts and programs. To assist you in your planning, we have compiled a list of ideas below.

•  Ask local civic clubs such as Rotary or Lion’s to donate funds, either regularly or as a special event. (This is also a great opportunity to raise awareness using your child as the star!)
•  Ask local Harley Davidson groups for financial support. They enjoy doing things for children’s organizations.
•  Host a yard sale and donate proceeds to MKO.
•  Use isearch.com and igive.com for your online searches and shopping.
•  Host a bake sale and donate proceeds to MKO.
•  Hold a car wash and donate proceeds to MKO.
•  Hold a cake walk at a school or community festival and donate proceeds to MKO.
•  Sponsor a Shoot for a Cure basketball free throw tournament. Other similar ideas include Rock-A-Thons (rocking chair sessions), Jump-a-Thons (jump rope), and Sock Hops (dances).
•  Ask your child’s school to have a Hat Day. Students pay a fee to wear a hat to school and proceeds go to MKO.
•  Have a penny contest at your child’s school to see which class can collect the most coins/money to support MKO.
•  Host a “Spot You Here” party for children or adults and have donations given.
•  Host a concert or “pub night” with admission fees going as proceeds to MKO.
•  Host a golf tournament, using green fees or per hole competition to raise money.
•  Ask for donations to MKO for birthdays and holidays in lieu of gifts if your child is so inclined.
•  Set out collection jars for Mastokids/pediatric mastocytosis around your community.

 Look for businesses that seek to support charities and approach them with our unique cause.

iGive

We have another wonderful opportunity for you to help MKO.  Mastokids.org is a member of iGive.com.  IGive is a website that collects contributions from internet companies and businesses and distributes them to qualifying non profit organizations.  Its easy to use.  After signing up, all you have to do is shop as usual over the internet.  With each purchase made through qualifying companies, iGive will automatically send a donation to mastokids.org.  There are over 680 companies that are members of iGive, such as ebay, staples.com, JCPennys.com, half.com, hotels.com and many more.  It costs nothing to you and when you have signed up, you don't even have to remember the list of stores that qualify.  You can choose to install a program that  IGive uses to automatically direct you through them to make the purchases.  Please visit http://www.iGive.com/Mastokids if you would like to participate.

Mastokids.Org Collection Jars 
Here is a wonderful idea for simple fundraising that came to us from Juanita Anderson at The Mastocytosis Society. Click on this link to print out a page that can be trimmed and inserted in a glass jar. Place this Glass Jar on your desk at work, or in your home and simply put in your spare change as you go throughout the day. You'll be amazed at how much your spare change can add up to! Ask your friends and family members to do the same! Every penny counts! December will be our annual collection date. At that point simply turn your change into a personal check or money order made out to Mastokids.Org and mail it in! All monies raised will be placed into our Pediatric Research Fund! THANK YOU!!

Mastokids.Org is a Non-Profit Foundation. All individuals who participate in this foundation are volunteers. No salaries are paid to anyone involved. All funds raised through our foundation are used directly for sponsoring Pediatric Mastocytosis Research and for maintaining the Foundation.
